In the Wings

Our first show of 2018 will be the play Ladies Day at The Bradford Playhouse 21st to 24th March. Are you interested in being involved?

Ladies’ Day is a comedy drama from Amanda Whittington about four unlikely lasses from Hull who decide to take a day trip to the races. Focusing on the friendship between the four distinctly different women, the play has proved hugely popular with amateur groups across the UK.
Work, love and life are just one long, hard slog for the fish-filleting foursome Pearl, Jan, Shelley and Linda. But their fortunes are set to change when Linda finds tickets to Ladies’ Day at Royal Ascot the year it relocated to York. Out go the hairnets, overalls and wellies as they do themselves up to the nines and head off to the races. Glamour puss Shelley is interested in meeting a handsome, and preferably rich, man. Linda, on the other hand, is skint after letting her duplicitous mother back into her life. Pearl spills the beans on her illicit love life to devoted single mother, Jan, who is concerned for her academically ambitious daughter. As the girls guzzle champagne they come across a variety of characters from an arrogant TV pundit to a sensitive jockey. They place the odd bet too and if their luck holds, they could just hit the jackpot.
Ladies’ Day premiered at Hull Truck Theatre in 2005 and has been revived many times since including at the Royal Court in Liverpool and the Oldham Coliseum in Manchester.
If you are interested in taking part please contact us we have a facebook page where you can message us The Bradford Players, or you can telephone us on 07977011800. Auditions will be end November, and rehearsals start 9th January 2018

Our 2018 Summer show will be the all singing all dancing 'Singin' In The Rain. on 20th to 23rd June 2018 at The Bradford Playhouse

The "Greatest Movie Musical of All Time" is faithfully and lovingly adapted by Broadway legends Betty Comden and Adolph Green from their original award-winning screenplay in Singin' In The Rain. Each unforgettable scene, song, and dance is accounted for, including the show-stopping title number, complete with an onstage rainstorm! Hilarious situations, snappy dialogue, and a hit-parade score of Hollywood standards make Singin' In The Rain the perfect entertainment for any fan of the golden age of movie musicals.
Singin' In The Rain has all the makings of a Tinseltown tabloid headline - the starlet, the leading man and a love affair that could change lives and make or break careers! In silent movies, Don Lockwood and Lina Lamont are a hot item, but behind the scenes things aren't always as they appear on the big screen! Meanwhile, Lina's squeaky voice might be the end of her career in "talking pictures" without the help of a talented young actress to do the talking and singing for her.
Filled with every memorable moment from the film and a downpour of unforgettable songs, Singin' In The Rain is a guaranteed hit for any theatre. The technical elements can be challenging, but well worth the effort when the audience is left leaping to their feet. Three extrodinary roles for dancers and a tour de force comedic turn make this a perfect choice for any theatre with an abundance of talent ready to shine.

Auditions will be around end of February, and Rehearsals will start 27th March on Tuesday and Wednesdays. If you are interested in taking part please contact us  for more information.
